New Locker build for Ramsey Magnet Elementary
The Coeur Group would like to enthusiastically thank Lola Hagadone for her generous sponsorship that funded the construction and installation of our newest locker. Students at Ramsey Elementary will now have the ability to discreetly procure clothing and hygiene essentials that may not be available to them from home. The locker will be supported by a motivated and philanthropic collaboration from our community.
The Coeur Group had been working with Ramsey administration to identify the best location for the locker system within the school. With input from staff and teachers a private room was identified that is centrally located in the school but will offer students the ability to ‘shop’ in private. Matt Anderson of Tapley Cabinet Works custom designed the cabinet layout to maximize space in the room while providing multiple uses for the area.
Ramsey communicated unique needs of their students after consulting with their parent organization. Children are often looking for healthy snacking alternatives when they are not being provided from home. With that in mind a portion of the locker is set aside as a pantry with drawers and shelves earmarked for non-perishable snacks. They also identified a trend that warmer clothes seem to be in demand often. Portions of the cabinets were set up with hanging rods to hang coats and heavy sweatshirts for the kids.
Going forward areas of need for Ramsey will include winter wear, hygiene essentials, healthy snacks, and clothes. Ramsey leadership has assembled a team to manage the day to day operation of the locker. This collaboration includes a generous local church, parents of current students, and a local civic organization.
The Coeur Group is proud to help kick off this new addition to the school and is grateful for cooperation from Ramsey and its Principal, Crystal Kubista.
